My Current Favourite Flowers

Last week I shared some photos and sketchbook pages from my solo drawing trip to Cornwall. I mentioned in the post that the trip had included a LOT of camellias and rhododendrons. The were the deciding factor on the timing of the trip, and my main reason for heading back to The Lost Gardens of Heligan. I’d visited last year in January, and I could see the thousands and thousands of flower buds waiting to bloom, and I decided I absolutely had to return in the spring, to see them in bloom and the beautiful petals scattered on the floor.

Not only did Heligan not disappoint, but I also came across even more camellias and rhododendrons at all of the other gardens I visited. From whites and purples to bright pinks and reds, there were beautiful blooms everywhere, and I filled my sketchbook with them. They’ve unsurprisingly now become a firm favourite for me to draw, and they will be featuring in some upcoming projects.

I shared a couple of pictures of them in my last post, but I thought they deserved a dedicated post - so here’s all of the sketchbook pages I filled with camellias and rhododendrons, and just a handful of the photos too.
